Since the introduction of franchising into Singapore in the early 70s, Singapore has generated numerous home-grown franchise systems and many international franchisors have targeted this region for expansion as the next progressive step towards internationalization. With less than 80 franchise concepts in the 90s to currently about 500 franchise concepts, and 80% of the franchise brands has overseas presence; the FLA Award committee has decided to form the - "Franchise Star Achiever" . This is to give due recognition to franchise companies who have developed a strong brand presence, reached a certain outlet/centre mark, and will continue their aggressive expansion plans under the "Franchise Star Achiever" banner.

Franchise companies will be awarded based on the following tier:
Bronze - 50 outlets
Silver - 100 outlets
Gold - 200 outlets
Platinum - 300 outlets
Emerald - 500 outlets
Sapphire - 1000 outlets
Ruby - 2500 outlets
Diamond - 5000 outlets

Entry Criteria

Franchise Star Achiever trophy will be presented to Singapore based company, recognized for its success in establishing a minimum network worldwide, through franchising and/or other expansion modes. To be eligible as a “Franchise Star Achiever”, a company must fulfill the following criteria:

- The company or business must have minimum 50 or more outlets/centers operating at the time of application

- Any company (local/overseas) incorporated, based in Singapore and must have at least 3 of the following core business functions / activities operated from Singapore
a. Market Development and planning
b. Logistics and shipping management
c. Research and development and design functions
d. Manufacturing and other value-added activity
e. Business and investment planning
f. Banking, financial and treasury functions

- The company or business has an established franchise model by proof of franchise contract, franchise manual and related evidence.

The company or business must have at least 10% of franchisees in the network

This award recognises and rewards the most thriving franchising business in Singapore.

We applaud the winner of this category for its success in establishing its franchising business system to be the best in Singapore. With this award, this franchising business will be acknowledged as the benchmark for all franchising businesses, locally and internationally.

The winner of this category will also represent Singapore in the International Franchisor of the Year category.

- Any company (local/overseas) incorporated in Singapore or any business firm registered in Singapore, is engaged in franchising as a franchisor or a master franchisee, and has appointed at least 1 sub-franchisee, is eligible to enter

- The company/business has to possess a minimum track record of 3 years in franchising

This category recognises a new budding franchisor that has the most promise to succeed and make an indelible mark on the franchising scene in Singapore.

FLA and the business sector of Singapore applaud this winning franchisor for its impressive accomplishments even at this early stage of business development. With this vote of confidence, the winner will definitely be the next big name to look out for in the franchising fraternity.

- Any company incorporated in Singapore or any business firm registered in Singapore, is engaged in franchising as a franchisor, and preferably has appointed at least 1 sub-franchisee, is eligible to enter

- The company/business has less than 5 years track record in franchising

Franchising can be very hard work, hence, Franchisee of the Year award is launched to recognize and reward the most outstanding franchisee for its drive and entrepreneurial skills.

- Any company incorporated in Singapore or any business firm registered in Singapore, being engaged in franchising as a franchisee with a single or multiple units in Singapore, is eligible to enter

- The franchisee has to possess a minimum of 1 year track record in franchising (submission can be made by the franchisee directly or by the franchisor on behalf of the franchisee)

This award is launched to honor the franchisor who has excelled in its own country. The award provides a networking platform for successful franchisors around the world.
