Douglas Foo is currently the Chairman of Franchising
and Licensing Association (Singapore).
Douglas is the founder and CEO of Apex-Pal
International Ltd, one of Singapore's fastest growing groups in the F&B
industry. The brands under the Group include Sakae Sushi, Sakae Teppanyaki, Hei
Sushi, Uma Uma Men, Sho-U, Crepes & Cream and Nouvelle Events. Apex-Pal was
honored with many awards, most notably, the Singapore 1000 Company for Public
Listed Company Award in 2007 and Singapore's 50 Fastest Growing Companies Award
in 2005. With over 60 outlets worldwide, its Sakae Sushi chain has expanded
into China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand and the US.
Viewed as one of the most promising home brands, Sakae Sushi was awarded the
Singapore Promising Brand Award (SPBA) in 2003 and the SPBA Regional Award in
2006 for its outstanding achievements in branding.
Apex-Pal International Ltd joined as a member of the
Franchising & Licensing Association (FLA) in 2001. Douglas started serving
on the executive committee of the Association in 2003 and in 2005 he was
appointed as the Chairman of the FLA's Award 2005 Organizing Committee. By
2006, Douglas was nominated and appointed as the Vice Chairman of the
Association.
Douglas was presented many personal awards, most
remarkably, the Singapore Youth Award 2003 and the ASEAN Youth Award 2004, for
his exceptional stints and notable services to the community. In 2007, he was
presented the 6th International Management Action Award by the Chartered
Management Institute, Singapore for his outstanding management actions in the
F&B industry. Always keeping the community at heart, he adopted MINDS (the
Movement for the Intellectually Disabled of Singapore) and MILK (Mainly I Love
Kids) as Apex-Pal's official charities.
Douglas also volunteers on various boards and
committees. He has been a member of the National Youth Council since 2003. In
2005, being appointed as the Chairman for the Food and Beverage Industry Skills
and Training Council, he spearheaded the effort in overseeing the development
and implementation of the National Continuing Education and Training (CET)
framework for the F&B section in Singapore.
Douglas graduated in 1994 with a Bachelor of Business
in Business Administration from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology
University, Australia.
